Assassin’s Creed Unveils Stunning 15th Anniversary Valhalla Poster

It has been 15 full years since Assassin's Creed debuted its first instalment. The saga has evolved since then and has transformed in both gameplay and narrative direction. In celebration of it all, Ubisoft recently dropped stunning artwork based on the franchise's most recent instalment, Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

On social media, the company shared two posters featuring male Eivor, the protagonist of Valhalla. The posters were produced in collaboration with Nautilus Art Prints and Bottleneck Gallery. The limited edition poster is available for purchase.

Since Valhalla's release, there was little news about future projects. That changed this year at UbiSoft Forward, where the developer announced a number of new projects, including a major instalment centered on Basim, who was introduced in Valhalla. A trailer released at the event showcased Basim in Baghdad, 20 years before the events of Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

The next instalment, Assassin's Creed Mirage will see Basim during his years training to join The Hidden Ones, the ancient society of deadly killers that would eventually become the Assassin Brotherhood. Details are still scarce, though Ubisoft revealed the existence of a second major character, Roshan, who is Basim's mentor. Two other characters were teased, though their identities have not yet been revealed.

Ubisoft's Plans for Assassin's Creed

But Mirage was just one of a number of franchise projects currently in development, including Assassin's Creed Codename Red, set in feudal Japan, and Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe, which is set during the 16th-century witch hunts in Europe. On top of that, the company recently announced Project Invictus, a standalone multiplayer game which, like the other announced titles, is set to be released through the Assassin's Creed Infinity platform.

The nature of the platform was initially the subject of confusion among the franchise's fanbase. Ubisoft recently explained, "Assassin's Creed Infinity will be a gateway for all Assassin's Creed experiences where the metastory will live asynchronously… This project will allow us to link games with a common and more coherent narrative thread that will reward players for their involvement in the universe, driving engagement, while at the same time providing more discoverability for the content we create."

The first Assassin's Creed game, originally designed as a reboot of the Prince of Persia franchise, was released in 2007 and centered on Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, one of the most skilled assassins of the Levantine Brotherhood. There were rumors that circulated suggesting Ubisoft may be planning to use assets from Assassin's Creed Mirage to remake the original Assassin's Creed game, but these have not been officially confirmed.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is set to release in 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X and PC
