A dedicated Fallout fan has digitally recreated the famed RPG entirely out of LEGO and made it available to play for free.

Per PCGamesN, developer ThrillDaWill created LEGO Fallout using Bethesda's Fallout 4 as their inspiration. The game, published for free on the independent digital marketplace Itch, begins with a character creator in which players can build their unique plasticky hero. They'll then find themselves in Vault 111, tasked with escaping their shelter and venturing into the irradiated wastelands beyond. Remarkably, all characters, environments and props are made entirely of LEGO pieces, with the game's sprawling landscapes constructed using a variety of brown, green and gray blocks and studs.

LEGO Fallout also functions as an RPG, albeit a short one, with players able to undertake a handful of missions and fill out their inventory with weapons. The game includes a blocky recreation of Fallout's famous PipBoy wrist computer and features the VATS aiming system. ThrillDaWill has even included Fallout's most renowned firearm, the Fat Man nuke launcher, that turns any unsuspecting enemies into a shower of red LEGO studs.

The Last Fallout Experience

Recent comments by Bethesda head Todd Howard indicate Fallout 5 is still some years away. Howard remarked that the developer's primary focus, for the time being, is creating The Elder Scrolls VI, with any future Fallout projects coming later. He added that the team has an "early idea" for Fallout 5's narrative direction, though it is prone to change as development progresses.

The most recent title in the long-running RPG series, Fallout 76, received scathing criticism from fans upon its launch in 2018 for its numerous game-breaking bugs and lack of content. Many critics went so far as to describe the game as unplayable. Despite the poor reception, Bethesda has continued to support Fallout 76 with a slate of free updates and public events.

A live-action Fallout TV series is currently in development for Prime Video. Set in the same destroyed wastes as the game franchise, the TV series looks set to focus on survivor stories from the previously unreferenced Vault 33. In-game lore regularly references the experimental nature of the hundreds of fictional shelter vaults across the United States, though Amazon has not officially revealed any plot details. The series will feature Ant-Man and the Wasp's Walton Goggins in the lead role.

Fallout on Prime Video does not currently have a premiere date.
