In addition to being an acclaimed actor, Val Kilmer is a father of two. Per The U.S. Sun, the “Top Gun” star’s children are named Jack and Mercedes. In a 2020 interview with ET Canada, Val and Mercedes spoke about acting alongside each other for the film “Paydirt.” This project came after Val’s throat cancer diagnosis and a subsequent 2017 tracheotomy.

“My dad is so talented and has such incredible training and just such incredible natural ability and faculty for communication,” Mercedes said before adding, “So I learned so much from watching him and how he was able to communicate and act in spite of the limitations of his speech.” Meanwhile, Val told “Good Morning America” of Mercedes’ performance in the film, “I was just proud like her graduation day.” Val and his kids sat for a chat with The Hollywood Reporter in 2017, during which Jack was asked to describe Val in three words or less. “Spontaneous, crazy and loving” were the words he chose for his dad. Val has also collaborated with Jack for entertainment ventures in recent years.

Val Kilmer’s son, Jack, has contributed to one of the “Batman Forever” actor’s latest Hollywood projects. As a result of Val’s difficulties with communication stemming from his tracheotomy that came after a throat cancer diagnosis, Jack provided the narration for “Val,” the 2021 documentary exploring Val’s life. A video clip from the movie shows Jack narrating the doc using Val’s words while footage and pictures of his father are shown.

“I’ve wanted to tell a story about acting for a very long time – about truth and illusion,” Jack said. He added, “I have behaved poorly. I have behaved bravely. I have behaved bizarrely to some. I deny none of this and have no regrets because I’ve lost and found parts of myself that I never knew existed. And I am blessed.” Aside from this father-son venture, Jack has scored parts in films and shows such as “The Stanford Prison Experiment,” “The Nice Guys,” and “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” He’s also had fans doing double takes due to his physical resemblance to Val. After Jack posted a selfie in honor of his birthday in June 2022, one user wrote, “You are the [spitting] image of your dad (in my eyes).” Jack has continued to work with his father on occasion while taking on his own independent roles.

Taking a cue from his dad, Val Kilmer, Jack Kilmer has begun to forge his own creative career path. During a 2021 ET interview with his sister, Mercedes, Jack discussed the documentary “Val” and elaborated on his father’s passion for artistry. “I think he really had something to say about life, and about creativity,” Jack said of Val. “I’m not quite sure how to articulate that message but it’s very clear in the film that he loves life, and he is dedicated to creating and being a creative person.”

As Decider wrote in December 2022, Jack provided vocals for Val’s character, Madmartigan, in an episode of “Willow.” Jack will next star in a Western film called “Dead Man’s Hand,” for which principal filming has reportedly concluded, per Collider. He additionally has a handful of other projects lined up, per IMDb, like a new action-thriller led by Bruce Willis which resumes the “Detective Knight” franchise. Furthermore, Jack is a musician who has performed live shows in recent months. This includes playing at Little Secret in Los Angeles, which he announced in December via Instagram. For his part, Val’s latest release was reprising his character Iceman in “Top Gun: Maverick.”
