Mario Kart fans better save up their coins for Tag Heuer's expensive watch collaboration with Nintendo.

Luxury watch company Tag Heuer released two limited editions Mario Kart-themed watches in their partnership with Nintendo. The Tag Heuer Formula 1 X Mario Kart Limited Edition Chronograph Tourbillion will set purchasers back $25,600, a straight Blue Shell to their wallets. Tag Heuer will only release 250 of the aforementioned timepiece. Constructed from grade 5 titanium, the luxury watch features sapphire glass on the back. The interior contains moveable Nintendo figures, like a Blue Shell, Bullet Bill and Mario.

If over $20,000 seems too steep, Tag Heuer also unveiled a $4,000 version of the Mario Kart-themed watch. The less costly model features a stainless steel backing with several Mario Kart logos. Additionally, race-style checkerboard covers the timepiece with three sub-dials, including one displaying the seconds with Mario driving a kart.

Tag Heuer Loves Super Mario

These limited edition timepieces aren't Tag Heuer's first Mario creation. In July 2021, the luxury watch company partnered with Nintendo to create its Super Mario Connected smartwatch. With a price tag of $2,150, Tag Heuer only produced 2,000 of the item. The smartwatch displayed different Mario-themed logos and animations at different battery percentages and users' progress toward their step goals.

Released in August 1992, Super Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo marked the first video game series title. Since its release, the Mario Kart series has had fourteen titles. The racing franchise's most recent game, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, commemorated the 35th anniversary of Super Mario.

Released in April 2017, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe improved the base title with its additional battle mode arenas and the restoration of the Boo and Feather Items. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's popularity led to the title becoming one of the best-selling video games of all time. In continuation of Mario Kart's success, Nintendo announced a Booster Course Pass system. The DLC season pass will add 48 tracks, most from previous Mario Kart games, throughout six waves until the end of 2023. Players were able to experience the second wave of tracks starting on Aug. 4, 2022. The third wave will release sometime in late 2022.

Reservations to purchase the limited edition luxury watches open on Oct. 17, 2022. The timepieces will be available to purchase on Oct. 20, 2022.
