Persona 5 Royal’s Port Lets Player Start the Game Super OP
Persona 5 Royal's long-awaited release on PC and all modern consoles is making one of the best JRPGs ever made more accessible than ever. Sweetening the deal is the fact that those picking up the Phantom Thieves' adventure will be treated to all of the DLC previously released for Royal included with the port. This includes dozens of alternate costumes, helpful items, and additional Personas based on those wielded by major characters from past Persona games.

While incredibly cool, players should be careful when adding these DLC Personas to their roster, especially early on. The prospect of having a high-level Persona from the very start may be tempting, but their sheer power compared to everything else in the game can make the game too easy, something that may impact a new player's enjoyment of Persona 5 Royal. This is especially the case with the game's most powerful DLC Persona: Izanagi-no-Okami Picaro.
What makes Persona 5 Royal's DLC Personas so broken is how easily accessible they are. Players are able to obtain each one for free the first time they summon them, though subsequent summons will cost a significant amount of money. Since the Velvet Room's Compendium (unlike Fusions) does not restrict Joker from obtaining Persona with levels higher than his own, players can easily fill their party with endgame-strength Personas as soon as the Compendium becomes available during the first palace. Each DLC Persona also has a Picaro variant, which starts at a higher level and has better stats, resistances, and skills.
Why P5R Players Should Unlock (or Avoid) Izanagi-no-Okami Picaro
Persona 4 players may remember Izanagi as the starting Persona of that game's protagonist. There are several versions of Izanagi available in Persona 5 Royal, the most powerful being Izanagi-no-Okami. This is the protagonist's Ultimate Persona, obtained during the true ending and only available afterward in New Game+ via fusion (which requires the player to be at least level 91). In the two games he appears in, Izanagi-no-Okami is the only Persona of the World Arcana, which (in tarot) represents totality, fulfillment, and the end of the hero's journey.
While Izanagi-no-Okami Picaro isn't the highest-level DLC Persona (the Persona 3 protagonist's Messiah Picaro starts at level 90), his innate abilities make him far superior to anything else in the game. He starts out with three skills:

| Angelic Grace | Passive | Double the player's evasion rate against all attacks except Hama, Mudo, and Almighty. |
What makes Izanagi-no-Okami Picaro so powerful is his access to both Myriad Truths and Victory Cry. The former is an incredibly strong Almighty attack, which means nothing in the game can resist, nullify, drain, or repel it. It's balanced somewhat by its high SP cost, which means Joker will probably only be able to use it once per battle early on without using healing items, but that's more than enough for most non-boss enemies. As for Victory Cry, restoring the player's HP and SP after each victory means being able to use Myriad Truths in the next fight so long as Joker ended the previous one with Izanagi-no-Okami Picaro equipped.
On top of that, Izanagi-no-Okami Picaro resists all damage types outside of Bless and Curse. He also has the Persona trait Country Maker, which increases his attack and defense based on how much of the Compendium the player has completed; 100% completion means those stats are doubled. Even Izanagi-no-Okami Picaro's apparent vulnerability to Hama and Mudo (instant-kill Bless and Curse skills, respectively) can be easily dealt with by equipping Joker with the Hermelin Badge, a DLC item that nullifies Bless and Curse skills.
Altogether, this makes Izanagi-no-Okami Picaro both hard-hitting and hard to hit. His power grows as the game goes on and the player obtains more Personas, meaning he's able to consistently one-shot most enemies outside of boss encounters. With him equipped, nothing Persona 5 Royal has to offer poses much of a threat. While this is great for those who merely want to breeze through the game's story and care less about combat, those who want a well-rounded gameplay experience should avoid this Persona, at least until they're approaching the end of the game.
